Showcase NYC 5-on5 Rules
Pro Rules apply in all games subject to the following modifications
- Games are to be started at the schedule time sharp teams are expected to be there 30 minutes prior to game time and be ready to play. Clock will be started at the scheduled time. Teams that forfeit will be responsible for referee fees for their opposing team as well.
- Games will be played in 4 quarters with a 24 second shot clock, 10 minutes each with stop time in last 8 seconds of each of the first 3 quarters and last 2:00 of the 4th.
- Defensive 3-seconds is in effect. One shot per infraction.
- Teams will be in the penalty on their 5th team foul of each quarter. In the 4th quarter if the team is not over the limit the 2nd foul under two minutes will put them in the penalty.
- Each team will receive 3 Timeouts per game. Timeouts advance the ball to halfcourt in the last two minutes of the game and in overtime. If there is overtime, each team will have one timeout each. Timeouts do not carryover from regulation.
- Overtime will be 2 minutes stop time. Each team will have one foul to give. If there is a double overtime same rules will apply.
- No jewelery can be worn during games at any time.
- Each team must have atleast 4 players before a game can be started. Teams are expected to be at the gym 20-30 minutes before game time.If your team is late the clock will start and for every minute that runs off the clock the opposing team will receive 2 points. If you only have 5 players and one fouls out that player will be allowed to continue playing but every time he/she fouls the team will be assessed a technical foul.
- Each players may commit 6 fouls before fouling out of the game. If you commit 2 flagrant fouls or 2 technical fouls you will be ejected. Fighting is an ejection from the game and will not be tolerated at all. Any player that throws a punch will be suspended for the season with no refund. Control your audience, any team that has a problem will forfeit their game and will not be allowed to bring any spectators.
- The maximum amount of players allowed on the roster is 10. Each player must play atleast 3 games in order to qualify for the playoffs. No exceptions.
- All League uniforms (tops and bottoms) must be worn for the games or that player will not be able to play.
- Each player must play at least 3 games in order to be eligible for the playoffs.
- Teams must submit protest before the start of the game to referee who in turn will notify tournament director.
- Other rules not covered above shall be decided by the tournament committee.
NCAA rules apply in all games subject to the following modifications:
- Each team is guaranteed to play in at least three (3) games.
- The length of each prelim game is 15 minutes per game or 25-point game. The last minute of the game is stop time and clock stops on all made baskets in the last minute. The clock stops on all time outs. The length of each playoff game is 20 minutes per game or 30-point game. NO SHOT CLOCK!
- Overtime will be as follows: 2 minutes total with the last minute=stop time on everything.
- Each team will be entitled to three (3) time outs per game. They do not carry over into overtime. Each team is allowed one time out in the overtime period.
- One and one situation will be in effect on the seventh (7) team foul. Two shots will be awarded on the tenth (10) team foul.
- Each team must begin the game with three players. After fouling out, a player may not reenter the game.
- Each player is allowed five (5) personal fouls and on the fifth foul that player will be disqualified. If a team has less than three players on the court, they can continue to play or forfeit or until the team has less than two players.
- Flagrant fouls will be penalized with foul shots and/or ejection from the tournament. Fighting is strictly forbidden and players and/or teams will be disqualified from the tournament.
- A team not ready to start their game will forfeit. Teams are required to be present (1/2 hour prior) at the designated court for their game.
- Each team must wear uniforms with numbers (Jerseys or T-shirts) with the same color. Failure to do so will result in technical fouls for each player (2 shots per player). Possession of ball will not change.
- All participants must present some type of photo identification that proves their age . If a protest is lodged, the burden of proof is on you to prove otherwise. Failure to do so will result in your disqualification from the game.
- All protests must be lodged by the coach and/or team captain by notifying the Referee and Coordinator before the start of any scheduled game.
- Players may only participate on one team. Any player caught playing on another team within the same tournament will result in the disqualification of himself and that other team from the tournament.
- After the jump ball to begin the game, all ties ups will be decided by the alternate possession rule.
- Other rules not covered above shall be decided by the tournament committee.
