Iverson - Retiring Again?!?
Iverson, Iverson, Iverson.......
About three months ago (December 2nd, 2009 Iverson was signed to the 76ers) the world saw a man that was in love with the game of basketball. We saw a baller in tears and sobbing how much he loved the game of basketball and just wanted to be a part of the game. With his own words he said "....all I wanna do is play basketball and help the guys that I play with...if i couldn't play basketball at the level that I am accustomed too then I wouldn't have made this decisions to come back and I'm going to prove that."
No doubt about it Iverson is a true competitor and a hell of a basketball player with all his achievements (96-97 Rookie of the year, Sixers all-time rookie records for scoring, steals, and assists, 4 time scoring champion, 10-time All Star, 2-time All Star MVP, 7 All-NBA Team Selections, thats what i call a career right there!) but there comes a time where an athlete must accept what your body is restricting you from. At 35, AI's body is not the same as a regular 35-year-old. Throughout his career he was always playing through injuries, driving fearlessly into the lane and finishing amazing shots but there comes a time and age where all this catches up to you. Today the Sixers announced that Iverson will not be returning for the rest of the season. For me this isn't really a suprise because I did not expect Iverson to excel given his health and his attitude. Iverson is not willing to become a role player he is stuck in his All-Star mentality and will not come second because of his ego. In result no teams want him because he will not fit in well. Until he realizes this for himself he is on to the next one like Starbury. If Iverson is a tru baller he will realize and prevail. It's better to go out with class then to be shitted on by the world. A.I. theres nothing wrong with being a 8th, 9th, 10th man and contributing opposed to being a starter and looking washed up out there, you'll enjoy the game better doing what you love and having fun doin it! Give me your opinion.
