As a role model to young adults and children you must think about what you say at all times including on social networks like Twitter. Mayweather tweeted "Jeremy Lin is a good player but all the hype is because he's Asian. Black players do what he does every night and don't get the same praise."
Now onto Jeremy Lin who is defying all odds right now. What Jeremy Lin is accomplishing right now is not about race. Lin is an Ivy League Harvard graduate who has made it to the NBA undrafted. Last year in the Summer League he lit up the former #1 draft pick John Wall for 29 points. Due to stellar guard play in Golden State from Steph Curry and Monta Ellis (who are outstanding players) Lin was never given the opportunity and bounced back and forth from the D-League all season. In the beginning of this season he was signed to the Houston Rockets but they released him to clear up more cap space for Samuel Dalembert. Two days after his release the New York Knicks rookie Iman Shumpert went down with a knee injury leading to the Knicks signing JLin. Lin rode the pine while the Knicks were slumping and had no offense. When Lin was given the opportunity to play with big minutes he showed what he could with a 25 point, 7 assists and 5 rebounds and only 1 turnover against the New Jersey Nets. In his first four starts Jeremy has scored 109 points, that is more than any player since the NBA-ABA merger in 1976. That overshadows one of the greatest scorers to play the game, Allen Iverson (101 in his first four starts in 1996). Now we see a rejuvenated Knicks team on a 5-game winning streak without their two main superstars Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire. Lin has taken leadership of the Knicks offense and every one of his teammates are playing better because of it. Give credit where credit is due. Once again, this is not a race issue.
P.S.-I'm not a die hard Lin fan but I appreciate and respect what he has done in the NBA thus far. I am a die hard Kobe fan and despite Lin's total annihilation of the Lakers on Friday night he is a great player to watch and his story and journey is "Linspiring" to everyone all over the world. Keep it up @JLin7!
